My name is Carson Barra. Our "Midwest" family of three moved to Knoxville, Tennessee four years ago. Tennessee welcomed us with all its charms and warm friendly people!
There's either something in the water here... or maybe it's the great Tennessee whiskey... because we are now a southern family of, soon to be, SIX!
We feel so very blessed.
My primary goal is to provide ministry through baking.
All of my baked goods and breads are naturally leavened with Sourdough (meaning, commercial yeast isn't utilized).
I am convicted to solely use organic and sustainable methods, which includes natural fermentation and purchasing out grain, eggs, and milk locally, and of the highest quality.
The gut contains a communal of microorganisms which collectively, is known and called, the gut "microbiome".
The positive microbes in our gut flourish when nourished with fiber and a diverse diet. This symbiotic relationship not only regulates and supports our immune system, but also contributes to overall health and well-being.
The bread and baked goods Sovereign Sourdough chooses to bake provides a major opportunity to deliver nutrients to our microbial allies. And considering the percentage of calories we typically eat in carbohydrates each day, that's pretty darn important!
